I’m so emotional as I head back home to HarrisburgPenna'e Akpuru
I’m so thankful to GOD for all he is doing in my life. Things are not perfect, but I’m happy and surrounded by lots of love. Most importantly, I have peace. Dreams do come true, so don’t ever stop pushing. This is a picture of my very first salon in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania over 25 years ago.
Great memories! I remember one day walking in my little storefront salon and praying that God would allow me to have a salon in a big house one day. I prayed to have my own product and to work in television and stage and see my work in magazines. It has all come to pass! Right here in this little salon I had big dreams. GLORY TO GOD! Even though I’ve been to Hell and back. I pushed. I prayed, and I never stopped believing. No matter what, I didn’t quit!
I’ve been invited back to Harrisburg to speak at the African-American Black History Month Expo, and I came across this article in the Pennsylvania Real-Time News. I am so emotional. Speaking forces me to come from behind the chair where I am comfortable. This is very uncomfortable, but it is exciting to know that my struggles and my triumphs can be used to help change someone else’s life. So, keep me lifted up in prayer as I share my story and my book with the world…starting in my hometown!
